This temporary exhibition for AIA LA proposes four parallel thickened walls spanning the width of the downtown LA storefront space. The framed walls are left exposed, revealing their supports rather than sheathing them in gypsum board and white paint like typical gallery spaces. The walls create a serial sequence of spaces that are accessed through passageway thresholds. The thresholds are celebrated as thickened faux marble frames, contrasting finish elements with the unfinished walls, and marking moments of sequence though the enfilade of spaces. Exhibition materials hang effortlessly on the light gauge wall-framing members.
