For a guest house located at the edge of the Saguaro National Park, CHH imagined an easily editable prototype that could be quickly replicated in dry climates. The symmetrical plan allows for slight deviations where needed for programmatic conditions, and the structure sits atop large piles that adapt comfortably in the craggy terrain. With solar panels that overlay the entirety of the roof, rainwater collection, and operable metal exterior shades to mitigate heat gain, the material language of the house balances contextual and climatic needs while allowing for a dramatic formal composition.
