Charlap Hyman & Herrero was commissioned to design a furniture gallery on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, CA. With a concrete façade marked by few compositional elements, the structure makes a spare, yet imposing impression. A large garage door, which visually encompasses the centered front door, may be opened for functional purposes and for gallery openings. The industrial is aestheticized as utilitarian aspects of the building, like aluminum air ducts and a ridged roofline, are prominently displayed.
