This birdhouse at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden takes the form of a jagged reflective mass, hovering above the ground. A green mirage of sorts, CHH collaborated with the artist Shun Kinoshita. Kinoshita uses paper, plaster, and silver nitrate to expressive effect - rendering sculptures, chairs, and tables that fuse his unique hand with an industrial coating process. The enclosure, perched atop its integrated stand, recalls the architecture of caves and the lightness of clouds, dissolving into its surroundings via its reflective properties. The birds that enter are protected by a sleeve of silvery camouflage, an ideal shelter for nesting.
